Lyons, Davis exchange vows

Wedding at Old Ursuline Convent, reception at Bourbon Orleans

Jeanne Michelle Lyons and Amos Prosser Davis were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Nov. 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at the Old Ursuline Convent in New Orleans. Reverend Whitney Miller presided over the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Michelle Lyons of Jennings. She is the granddaughter of the late John and Ruby Lyons of Welsh and Bubba and Lena Mae Oustalet of Jennings.

Jeanne is a 2007 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and a 2011 graduate of Louisiana State University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in mass communication with a focus on print journalism. She is writer and contributor to Southern Living and Country Living magazines.

The groom is the son of Amos Hughes Davis and Laura Prosser of Baton Rouge. He is the grandson of the late Amos and Mary Elizabeth Orr Davis of Altoona, Pennsylvania, and Louise Belle Peterman Prosser and the late Dr. Charles Prosser of Baton Rouge.

Amos is a 2000 graduate of Episcopal High School in Baton Rouge, a 2004 graduate of the University of Virginia, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree with distinction in philosophical theology, and a 2010 graduate of Emory University, where he obtained his law and master’s degrees. He is an attorney for The Coca-Cola Company.

The bride, escorted by her father, looked stunning in a gown designed by Watters and Watters. The illusion bodice was encrusted with pearls and crystals and complimented by her mother’s lace veil.

Elizabeth Lagarde, cousin of the bride, served as maid of honor, and Valerie and Elizabeth Lyons, sisters-in-law of the bride, served as matrons of honor. 

Family and close friends attending the bride as bridesmaids were Cathryn Core, Katherine Dampf, Caroline Guinn, Annie Hundley, Claire Kenda, Rachael Lagarde and Katie LaSalle.

Benjy Davis, brother of the groom, served as best man. Attending the groom as groomsmen and ushers were Jon Avula, Bret Blackmon, Baker Brooks, Jacques Edeline, Michael Galasso, Jim Lyons, Matt Lyons, Ryan O’Quinn, Anthony Rushing, Drew Hall and Robert Martinson.

Valerie and Katherine Lyons, nieces of the bride, served as flower girls. James and George Lyons, nephews of the bride, served as ring bearers.

Readers were Louise Hines and Madeline Laperouse.

House party attendants were Lauren Lagarde and Elise Smith. 

On the eve before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a lovely rehearsal dinner at Galatoire’s Restaurant.

Following the ceremony and a festive “second line,” a reception was held at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, where dancing and merriment were enjoyed by family and friends.

After returning from their honeymoon in the Mayan Riviera, the couple now resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
