Eva Clement celebrates 100 years

Huge crowd gathers for birthday fête at St. Theresa Catholic Church

On Saturday, Sept. 24, approximately 150 people turned out to join in celebrating the 100th birthday of Crowley’s Eva George Clement.
Clement was born on Sept. 23, 1916, in Prairie Hayes to the late Sevilla and Columbus George.
She married Allen Clement, who is now deceased, and together the couple had two daughters, Sevilla “Sue” Clement of Crowley and the late Georgiana Clement Domingeaux.
Held at the St. Theresa Catholic Church Hall in Crowley, the birthday event included a huge meal, a toast to Clement, a slide show of photographs from throughout Clement’s life, a second line parade and a three-tier birthday cake worthy of a centenarian.
The church hall was decorated in regal purple, and huge arrangements of fresh flowers, including purple irises and purple spider chrysanthemums, adorned the front table.
Guests enjoyed a delicious meal of barbecue chicken and sausage, rice dressing, green beans and macaroni and cheese. The meal was blessed by Fr. Godwin Imoru, pastor of St. Theresa, who was present for the celebration.
Clement is the proud grandmother of Delvecio (married to Patricia) Clement of Richmond, Virginia; Daria (married to Terrell) Damon of San Antonio, Texas; Joseph (married to Kesha) Domingeaux of Fort Worth, Texas; and Deniqua (married to Travis) Freddie of Visalia, California.
She is the proud great-grandmother of Malique Houchen, Amari Clement, DaLesha Goodwin, DaLayla Goodwin, Dan Goodwin III, Joseph C. Domingeaux, Landon G. Domingeaux and Traivus Freddie
