Sorority chapter celebrates 40th anniversary of charter

The Crowley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of its chartering. The Crowley Alumnae Chapter was chartered on June 1, 1975, with 12 members. A monthly meeting and celebration commemorating the chapter’s 40 years of service to the community was held on Dec. 19 at Chef Roy’s in Rayne. Directed by the theme, “Continuing the Legacy through Sisterhood and Service,” highlights of the program included a presentation of the Chapter’s history and the honoring of two of the original 12 charter members who were present, Grace Byers Brown and Rosa Guidry. After Ronnie Taylor sung a stirring solo, Cynthia Dominick, Evelyn Julian and Charlesetta Andrus, former chapter presidents, and Yvonne Mills, current chapter president, shared highlights of their various administrations. The theme address was delivered by Crystal Bowie of the Alexandria Alumnae Chapter.
