Lillie Maude Butler-Orebo Hill

CROWLEY - Lillie Maude Butler-Orebo Hill was called home to receive her crown on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Community Hospital Anderson.

Lillie was born to the late James Butler and Roberta Goodwill Butler on Janurary 26, 1930 in Crowley.

She attended and graduated from Crowley Industrial High School in 1947.

She accepted Christ at an early age in the Christian Methodist Church in Crowley. While a member of Bethel C.M.E. Church, she served in many positions such as Sunday School Teacher, Stewardess Board, Choir Member and many other activities that were asked of her.

On arrival in Anderson, she affiliated with Allen Chapel A.M.E. under the pastorate of the Rev. Atticus T. Taylor. Lillie immediately started her work here. She serviced as recording secretary for the Lay and Celia Gregg Women’s Missionary Society and also as a Class Leader. When visitors attended our services you can be assured that Lillie was there sitting beside them helping with our worship procedure.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 21 years, Aaron Hill Jr.; her four children, Lionel Orebo Jr. of Crowley, Yvonne O. Mosley of Grand Prairie, Texas, Iantha C. (Charles) DIllard, of Pittsburgh, Cal., and Lionel Orebo Jr. of Crowley; five stepchildren, Dane E. Hill, Douglas B. Hill, Darryl R. Hill (Karen), Damita J. (Jonathan) Williams, and Deandra L. (Todd) Finell; three sisters, Mary Ann Southern of Arizona, Octavia Solomon of Crowley, and Shirley Butler of Crowley; one brother, Charleston Butler of Port Arthur, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, Vinika (Demarquis) Black of Cedar Hill, Texas, Shannon Cooper of Oakland, Cal. Jamie Hill, Brittni Hill, Tony McDaniel, Jordan Hill, Kaitlin Hill, Nicholas Williams, Kramer P. Hill, Chezni Williams, Olivia Williams, Kennedi Williams, TyheeWilliams, Alexis and Brooke Finnell; two great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Roberta Butler; her sons, Andrew, James, Ben and Grady; and sisters, Camillia Brown, Goldia Mosley and Abelle Butler.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. at Bethel CME Church in Crowley. Viewing will begin at 8 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at the West Crowley Cemetery.

Wilturner Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of the arrangements.
