Acadia General Hospital 2016 Gala raises $132,000

More than 350 supporters attended Acadia General Hospital’s 2016 Gala held at the Grand Opera House in Crowley on Friday, April 15.
The annual event raised $132,000 to benefit the expansion for the hospital’s new emergency room. Since the inaugural gala in 2015, more than $700,000 has been raised for the capital campaign project.
The gala included live and silent auctions, a buffet-dinner and the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful evening of dancing and live music. Many outstanding items were up for bid, including several trips to a number of destinations, a private in-home gourmet dinner for four, a pair of diamond cluster earrings, a duck and goose hunting trip and a golf weekend for four to Squire Creek Country Club, an 18-hole world-class golf course designed by Tom Fazio.
The evening celebration began with a cocktail reception as Cian Robinson, Executive Director of Lafayette General Foundation, welcomed patrons, while Lafayette General Health President David L. Callecod, FACHE, thanked all those in attendance who were there to support the event. Acadia General Hospital Interim CEO Don Trexler reflected on the important work of the AGH staff and gave remarks recognizing the physicians as the “Healers & The Heroes” of the community. Members of the Board of the American Legion in attendance were also recognized for their early financial contribution towards the capital campaign project.
Afterwards, a live auction with Scott Angelle as guest auctioneer was held, followed by a delicious buffet dinner with live entertainment by Louisiana Red. Attendees enjoyed mingling with the honorable Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and his wife and Mayor Greg Jones and his wife, who were in attendance. The evening concluded with the silent auction and a photo area was also a popular attraction at the gala.
“The support we received from the community was heartwarming,” said Trexler. “This is a very caring and giving community, and we are extremely grateful to the sponsors, participants, and donors whose contributions made the gala a success.”
The Foundation is honored to recognize Elder Outreach as the Presenting Sponsor of the gala. Other passionate and responsive sponsors $2,500 and above include Home Bank, Coding Services Group, Bank of Commerce, Carmichael’s Pharmacy & Medical Equipment, Compass Health, First National Bank, Lamm Family Care, Schumacher Group, Cardiovascular Institute of the South, Nursing Specialties, IMA Consulting and St. Martin Bank.
“The generosity of investments from so many caring people helps the Foundation fulfill Lafayette General Health’s mission, To Restore, Maintain and Improve Health, while helping to build the future of health care in the community,” said Robinson.
