One person was killed and two more injured in a head-on collision in the eastbound lane of Interstate 10 near mile marker 82 Sunday.
At approximately 10:20 Sunday evening, a green Geo Prism with one occupant was traveling westbound on I-10 when it apparently crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Nissan Altima, which had two occupants.
Crowley Chief of Police Jimmy Broussard reported that the driver of the Prism was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office.
The driver and the passenger of the Altima were both transported to Lafayette General Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition as of press time Monday morning.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Comments

How long does it usually take next of kin to be notified in situations like this? It happened at 9:21pm on Sunday night. If my family was killed in a head-on collision, I would like to be notified as soon as possible, personally.

Will the Acadia Parish Coroner's Office be doing an autopsy or toxicology report on the wrong-way driver in the green Geo Prism?
