Cancer Survivors/ Caregivers Breakfast set

Relay for Life of Acadia looking to honor individuals

For years, Relay for Life of Acadia Parish has recognized cancer survivors and caregivers at their Relay events, but this year, organizers are looking to do more.

Saturday, Oct. 5, at 8 a.m., Egan’s St. Michael Chapel Church Hall, located at 2016 Egan Highway in Egan, will host a breakfast for survivors and caregivers of Acadia Parish.

To make sure there is an accurate head count and enough food for everyone, organizers have set an RSVP deadline for Tuesday, Oct. 1.

To RSVP, contact Darlene Thibodeaux at 337-458-1959 or the Survivors/Caregivers Chair Linda Benoit at 337-250-2081.

The Planning Committee of Relay for Life of Acadia Parish 2014 has looked for a way to reach out and recognize those who have been affected by cancer or have given their time to help care for those who have.

The idea for a breakfast in their honor was brought forth and put into motion. The Egan KC No. 6969 has graciously agreed to donate the meal.

The American Cancer Society believes that you are a survivor of cancer from the day of diagnosis. This breakfast serves as a chance to honor those who continue the fight against cancer as well as those who help cancer patients.

Breakfast will begin being served at 8 a.m. Saturday.

For more information, you can also contact Thibodeaux or Benoit.
