Crowley selects court, announces activities

The football game will also be held Friday as the Crowley High Gents take on Beau Chene High School beginning at 7 p.m. at Gardiner Memorial Stadium. During halftime, the football sweetheart will be presented and the newly selected homecoming queen for 2013 will be announced.

Crowley High School will celebrate Homecoming 2013 with the theme “Aloha Ladies and Gents”.

The Crowley High students will celebrate the week with class spirit competitions and dress-up days. 

The homecoming Parade will be held in downtown Crowley at 6 p.m on Thursday, Sept. 26. The parade will feature members of the homecoming court, the football sweetheart, the CHS football team, a variety of club and class parade entries and the CHS marching band.

The homecoming pep rally will be held Friday, Sept. 27, in the boys’ gym at 1:45 p.m. The football game will also be held Friday as the Crowley High Gents take on Beau Chene High School beginning at 7 p.m. at Gardiner Memorial Stadium. The members of the 2013 Homecoming Court are as follows:

Takeisha Dominique Freddie is the daughter of Yolanda Freddie. She has been on the basketball team for three years and the track team for one year. Takeisha Freddie has been a member of Student Council for four years and is currently serving as treasurer. She was also inducted into the National Honor Society during her junior year. She attended the Louisiana Youth Seminar at LSU last summer. Takeisha Freddie maintains a 3.8 grade point average. She has received the Hardest Working Student Award  and numerous academic achievement awards. Takeisha Freddie plans to attend the University of Louisiana and major in pediatric medicine.

Skylor Lynn Huval is the daughter of Roxanna and Bryan Huval. She has been a member of Student Council for three years. Skylor Huval has received the Hardest Working Student Award several times. She maintains a 3.0 grade point average. Skylor Huval has been on the track team for two years. She has been a member of the volleyball team for four years and is currently serving as team captain. She received the Newcomer of the Year Award as a freshman and Hardest Worker Award during her junior year. Skylor Huval is also a member of the softball team. During her freshman and sophomore years, she was awarded second team all-district honors and was named honorable mention in her junior year. After graduation, Skylor Huval plans to pursue a degree in the medical field.

Damonica Dashay Jones is the daughter of Gracie Williams. She was a member of Student Council for one year and a member of the color guard for one year. She has bene in the National Honor Society for two years. Jones has also attended district literary rally for two years and placed both years. She maintains a 3.9 grade point average and has received numerous academic awards for her hard work. Jones plans to attend Louisiana State University  in Baton Rouge where she will major in cardiac medicine.

Meghan Elaine Medus is the daughter of Meredith and Kevin Medus. She has been a member of National Honor Society for two years and has been a member of the Topper staff for three years where she is currently serving as senior editor. Meghan Medus has been a member of the Drama Club for four years where she served as vice president her junior year and is currently serving as president. She maintains a 4.0 grade point average and has received the Hardest Working Student and Principal’s List awards numerous times. Meghan Medus also attended Girls’ State at Northwestern State University last summer. She plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she will major in mass communication with a concentration on broadcasting.

Alanna Burnell Plummer is the daughter of Allegra and Anthony Plummer. She has been a member of the basketball  team for four years and is currently serving as captain. She was named Most Improved Player during her junior year. Alanna Plummer has been a member of Student council, the Prom Committee and FCCLA for one year. She is now serving as a leader for Future Christian Athletes and attended leadership training last summer. Alanna Plummer has a 3.4 grade point average and plans to attend Southern university where she will major in pediatric medicine.

Courtney Ann Suire is the daughter of Cheryl L. Ohlenforst and Todd Suire Sr. She has been on the Topper staff for three years and is currently serving her second year as editor-in-chief. She has bee involved in Drama Club for two years and was recently elected the club’s secretary. Suire is secretary of the 4-H Club, a member of student Council and is organizing Crowley High’s upcoming Veterans Day program. She was inducted into the National Honor Society during her junior year and has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout high school. Suire attended Louisiana Girls’ State last June. She plans to attend Louisiana State University after graduation.

Shanna Paige Trahan is the daughter of Elisabet and Sid Trahan. She has been a softball manager for three years. Shanna Trahan has been a member of Student Council, Science Club and the newspaper staff for two years and is currently on the Topper staff. She attended Louisiana Girls’ State at Northwestern State University last summer. Shanna Trahan has a 3.3 grade point average  and receive the Hardest Working Student Award numerous times. She plans to attend the University of Louisiana where she will major in business.

Amber Michelle Wilson is the daughter of Christy and Peter Leger. She has been a football manager for three years and a track manager for two years. Amber has been a member of Student Council for four years, Drama Club for two years and a member of National Honor Society, FFA and the newspaper staff for three years. Wilson maintains a 3.7 grade point average and has received the Hardest Working Student, Academic Achievement and Honor Roll awards numerous times. She plans to attend McNeese State University where she will major in sociology.

The Crowley High School football team has chosen Taylor Ann Claire Cormier as the 2013 Football Sweetheart. She is the daughter of Nora and Jude Cormier. She has been on the volleyball, track and softball teams for four years and also on the cross country team for two years. Taylor Cormier has been a member of Student Council for three years. She maintains a 2.7 grade point average. Taylor Cormier plans to attend the University of Louisiana where she will major in psychology.

The week concludes with the Homecoming Dance sponsored by the Crowley High Student Council. The dance will be Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. in the Crowley High School Commons Area.
