Gibson, Broussard announce curfews

Crowley Police Chief Jimmy Broussard has announced that a curfew is imposed tonight for the affected areas of the City of Crowley.
Curfew is imposed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for those areas North of Northern Avenue in the City of Crowley to Interstate 10 exit 80; westward from Northern Avenue to Capitol Avenue; and, eastward from Northern Avenue to Eastern Avenue.
Motorists are to avoid these areas. The City of Crowley is presently awaiting word on a possible shelter and more information will be given on this as it becomes available.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is placing a curfew for this evening (8/15/16) from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am in the unicorporated areas of the parish. Water in some areas of the parish continue to rise as the Mermentau River has not yet reached its crest. Water is being pushed back into the various communities. Vehicles riding through these area are forcing water back into homes causing more damage. Please be respectful of those who are dealing with flooding in their homes. Staying out of these areas could make the difference between a residence flooding or not.
