Post 77 American Legion, Auxiliary install officers

New leaders for coming year installed during banquet

RAYNE - Arceneaux Post No. 77 and Auxiliary Unit No. 77 of the American Legion held a joint installation of officers Tuesday evening, July 5, at the American Legion Home.
Following the presentation of colors for the 2016 event, Chaplain Robert Comeaux offered the opening prayer. Commander David Simon led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Guests were introduced, including 7th District Legion Commander Joe Monroe, 7th District Auxiliary President Sue Hudson, 7th District Legion Judge Advocate Ed Hudson, 7th District Auxiliary Chaplain Jackie Monroe, among other special guests.
Seventh District Auxiliary President Sue Hudson installed the Auxiliary Officers. The slate of Auxiliary officers includes President Bonnie Simon, First Vice President Louise Thibodeaux, Second Vice President Lena Domingue, Secretary Johnnie Olinger, Treasurer Peggy Fontenot, Chaplain Mary Menard, Color Bearer Joyce Lyons, and Sgt.-at-arms Mary Jane Cormier.
Seventh District Commander Joe Monroe installed the Legion officers. Assuming their duties as 2016-2017 officers are Commander David Simon, First Vice Ray Olinger, Second Vice Bobby Alleman, Third Vice John Quebodeaux, Financial Officer Lorraine Gaines, Junior Past Commander Gene Comeaux, Adjutant Lee John, Chaplain Robert Comeaux, Judge Advocate Shane Mouton, Sgt-at-Arms Andrew Habetz, Color Bearers Wilson LeDoux and Harold Arceneaux, and Advisors to Commander Andrus Fontenot, Willis Credeur and Gilbert Cormier.
Chairman Ray Olinger made four special presentations, 70-year continuous membership plaque to Leo Spaetgens, and 60-year continuous membership plaques to Warren McBride and Norman Faulk. Also acknowledge but absent was Bernard Guidry Jr., 60-year plaque.
Chairman Andrus Fontenot presented special plaques of appreciation to The Gabe Alleman family, Lester Terro and Terry Broussard for volunteering their dedicated help for Post 77 over the past year.
The evening closed with a delicious meal prepared by the Legion cooks.
