Rayne High celebrates homecoming

New queen to be named during Friday night’s game

Traditional events and programs associated with Rayne High’s homecoming week are being enjoyed on and off campus throughout the week.
Special honorees during the 2016 Homecoming activities will include classmates of classes ending in “6”, in addition to members of the newly named Homecoming Court.
Today’s events include the traditional Homecoming Parade. The event invites all RHS classes and alumni to participate in the 6 p.m. parade, following its usual route from Rayne Central Kindergarten and ending at Rayne High School where the annual community-wide pep rally and Powder Puff Game will be held.
Also invited to participate in this year’s parade are all Rayne High former students who will join the Homecoming Court who will take their honored place. All parade participants are needed in line by 5:30 p.m. at Central Kindergarten and be ready for the 6 p.m. start.
Friday will have a full schedule of events, including: Annual Alumni Reception at 10 a.m. in school library; Pep Rally at 2 p.m. in north gym; Homecoming Court introductions at 6:45 p.m. prior to football game at RHS stadium; Homecoming Game at 7 p.m. against DeQuincy High School with halftime introduction of Homecoming Court and crowning of the new 2016 Homecoming Queen.
The group of 12 seniors honored as members of this year’s Homecoming Court are Destiny Alleman, daughter of Brandy Alleman and Byron Sias; Natalie Alleman, daughter of Troy and Connie Alleman; Tajané Butler, daughter of Tashaka Butler and Barry Roberts; Kalon Byrd, daughter of Karry Pack and Michael Byrd; Jada Castille, daughter of Nick and Mia Castille; Whitney Comeaux, daughter of Chris and Eva Comeaux; Chloe Duhon, daughter of Melody Evans Goodwill and Leonce Duhon Jr.; Brailey Guidry, daughter of Candace and Craig Guidry; Naomi Istre, daughter of Cristie Cormier and Johnathan Cormier; Madison Lavergne, daughter of Russell and Michelle Lavergne; Brooklyn Mire, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Prejean and Mr. and Mrs. Jody Mire; and Blaire Thibodeaux, daughter of Robert and Tiffany Gossen.
Rayne High cherleaders will be selling T-shirts, pom poms, cups and programs during the alumni reception.
Alumni can also be on the lookout for the RHS Wolf, who they can take pictures with during their tour of the school grounds Friday morning.
