Alfred “Popcorn” LeBlanc



A  Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for  Alfred “Popcorn” LeBlanc, 76, who passed away peacefully at his home in Rayne surrounded by his family on Monday, December 8, 2014, at 10:05 a.m.
Fr. Bill Ruskowski officiated for the services. Fr. Michael Schatzle con-celebrated for the services.  Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne.
Alfred “Popcorn” LeBlanc served his country in the United States Army.  He was a member of the Lions Club for over forty years, winning an award for twenty-five years of perfect attendance. Popcorn was a very proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1897.  He played an important role in the KCs becoming active again in the Rayne area and was Knight of the Year in 2013.  He worked for five years at Duhon Funeral Home, LLC.
The family requested visitation be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.  A Rosary was recited at 6:00 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne.  Visitation resumed at 8:00 a.m.  on Wednesday until time of services.
Survivors include his wife of fourteen years, Dorothy “Dot” LeBlanc of Rayne; one son, Gerhard “Boo” LeBlanc and his children Hailey, Hudson and Holden of Rayne; and one daughter, Anne and husband Matthew Guidry and their children Emma, Anna, Sarah and Jacob of Rayne; two step-daughters, Linda and husband Hubert Abshire, and their children, Jason and wife Kelly, and Lisa and husband John of Rayne, and Judy and husband Randal LaVergne and their children, Amelia, Mira and Zoie of Rayne; one step-son, Joe Thibodeaux and his children Aislinn and Royce of Rayne; one sister, Barbara Mier of Baker, LA and one brother, Patrick LeBlanc of Houston, TX.
Popcorn was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa Leonards LeBlanc; his parents, Augustin and Alma LeBlanc; four brothers,  Robert, Lloyd “Kelly”, Augustin “Gus”, and his twin, Albert LeBlanc; two sisters,  Louise Fors and Mary Cormier.
