Linda Monceaux Lejeune

 It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Linda Monceaux Lejeune, 71, announce her passing on Aug. 16, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. All arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.

The family received visitors on Monday, Aug. 18, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Allen Parish Funeral Home. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Linda was born on Nov. 26, 1942. She was a 1960 graduate of Oberlin High School. She received her degree in education from USL in 1964. She also earned her master’s degree in education from McNeese State University. She was retired with the State of Louisiana as a social case worker with the Department of Child Welfare. She was loved by so many friends and co-workers across our state.

She enjoyed traveling, especially overseas. She loved visiting churches and other holy sites. Linda also enjoyed photography and making cards for family and friends. Another of her favorite pastimes was reading. Her passion was her family. She was a loving mom, Nana, and Nannie. She loved attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s many events. She was a cheerleader in her high school years and continued to be a “loud voice” for all Oberlin team sports. Linda was strong in her faith and always put others first. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Craig Joseph Lejeune and wife Kathy of Oberlin;  three daughters, Michelle Simmons and husband Jerry of Santa Fe, Texas, Jacqueline Hamilton and husband Richard of Kinder and Monique Shaw of Oberlin; one sister, Deanna Reeves and husband Tommy of Lafayette; one brother, Randell Monceaux and wife Natalie of Rayne; nine grandchildren, Tabatha, Cristy, Cindy, Blake, Ashleigh, Taylor, Sara, Cameron and Blaine; and seven great-grandchildren, Shelbie, Jada, Hunter, Katelyn, Caleb, Nathaniel and Harper Grace.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Gertie Monceaux; one daughter, Angelle Lejeune Durio; and two brothers, Kenneth and Steve Monceaux.
