Willie Richard

Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, August 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm for Willie Richard, 99 who passed away Saturday, July 26 at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette.
 
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne, LA.
 
Mr. Richard was a native and resident of Rayne for most of his life.  He retired with Superior-Mobil Oil Company with 33 years of service.  He remained active as a cattle farmer for over 70 years.  He was involved in rice farming and supplied water to area farmers.  Mr. Richard was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Acadia Parish Farm Bureau.
 
Surviving are his son, Willie "Bob" Robert Richard and wife Donna of Slidell; one daughter, Cynthia Broussard and husband Glenn of Scott; five grandchildren, Kurt Richard, Deborah Bowers, Karen Burns, Chad Broussard and Tami Broussard; and 8 great grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Claudia Hanks Richard; his parents Numa Richard Sr. and Cora Legere Richard; five brothers, Lenis Richard, Odilon Richard, Numa "June" Richard, Gardy Richard and Nelson Richard; and four sisters, Agnes Tanner, Sadie Petitjean, Annie Monte and Leona Dearbonne.
 
Friends will be received Sunday, August 03, 2014 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm & Monday, August 04, 2014 from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA.  A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Sunday, August 3, 2014.
 
Pallbearers will be Kurt Richard, Chad Broussard, Gregory Richard, Jason Hanks, Joey Richard and Ryan Richard.  Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Falcon and Russell Dartez.
 
The Richard Family would like to express its deepest appreciation to Russell Dartez, Elwood Constantin, Patsy Guidry, Gwen Guidry and the nursing staff on the 5th and 9th floor at Lafayette General Hospital.  They will be forever grateful to family, friends and neighbors for their kindness during the last years of his life.
