Taylor Simon displays her championship win

LSUA’s Taylor Simon is softball honoree

The LSU-Alexandria Generals finished the 2013-2014 softball season with a 35-5 Record ranked #1 in to the NAIA World Series. They were conference and regional champs receiving a Conference Champ ring for the 2013-2014 season.
Among the team members was Rayne’s Taylor Simon, who was also named to the All World Series Team in the World Series.
In addition, Taylor was named the RRAC Softball Player of the week for March 30, 2015. RRAC is the Red River Conference the Generals are members of.
Taylor had an extremely productive week with 14 runs scored, 12 RBIs and 10 stolen bases as the Lady Generals wrapped up eight wins by sweeping two of four-game series.
The senior second baseman opened the week with a bang by blasting a three-run home run and picking up four RBIs in a 20-0 win over Huston-Tillotson University (Texas).
Simon homered again in the next game and collected a total of eight hits in the series en route to the sweep.
Simon’s hot streak continued in LSUA’s series with University of the Southwest (N.M.) over the weekend.
The Rayne native had three more multiple-hit games and drove in a pair of runs in the first and third games of the series as the Lady Generals outscored the Mustangs, 32-9, overall.
Simon hit safely in all eight games and walked four times with four doubles, two triples and two homers for the week.
Simon is first in the RRAC in RBIs with 36, second in batting average in the at .477, and tied for first in homers with six.
LSUA is ranked fifth in the NAIA with a record of 24-3 and a conference mark of 8-0.
Taylor is the daughter of Paul and Stacie Simon of Rayne and is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in Crowley.
