Covenant marriage unites Faulk, Deville
CROWLEY - Maggie Ellen Faulk and Adam Andrew Deville, both from Baton Rouge, were married on June 4, 2011 at L’eglise in Abbeville. Pastor Josh LaRavia from the Chapel on the Campus in Baton Rouge officiated the 6:30 p.m. double ring ceremony.
The ceremony was held in the outdoor garden area. White carnation kissing balls tied to shepherds hooks with light blue ribbon lined the aisle.
The bride and groom stood among rose petals under an arbor decorated with lilies and loose flowers.
Musical vocalist Neil Tate played the guitar. Neil Simon played the trumpet. A keyboard accompanied the two. Nancy Villejoin, godmother of the bride, and Laura Prejean, aunt of the groom ,read the scripture. Offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Dennis Abshire, godfather of the bride, and Denise Abshire, aunt of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of John and Kayla Faulk of Crowley. She is the granddaughter of Hazel Villejoin and the late Ivan Villejoin of Crowley and Clara Faulk of Bowling Green, Ky. and the late John Faulk and Barbara Powell Faulk.
Maggie is a 2008 Notre Dame High School graduate and she will graduate in communication disorders from LSU Honors College in December 2011. She will continue to graduate school to pursue a degree in speech pathology. Maggie is a member of the Chi Omega sorority and holds membership in several honor societies. She is employed at the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Center.
The groom is the son of Rachael Deville of Omaha, Neb. and Michael Deville of Eagle River, Alaska. His grandparents are the late Melvin and Rhona Tate of Opelousas, Floyd Deville of Opelousas and Janet Himel of Sunset.
Adam is a 2006 graduate of Burke High School in Omaha, Neb. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln before transferring to LSU. He is currently pursuing a degree in petroleum engineering and is employed at Team Toyota in Baton Rouge.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory, Maggie Sottero design ballgown with a strapless sweetheart neckline. Her dress of Bordeaux taffeta wrapped around her petite frame in an extended bodice which featured unique pleating. From the waist down were layers of tulle accented with lace appliques and beading. The corseted back continued into a cathedral train. She wore an ivory, cathedral length headpiece which gathered double layer tulle with a ribbon edging.
The bride carried a bouquet of wild flowers with cymbidium orchids, dendrobium orchids and blue hydrangea. Her bouquet included something old, which was her maternal grandmother, Hazel Villejoin’s ring.
Her bridal ensemble was new, she borrowed a pearl bracelet from her sister, Allison Faulk, and her garter was blue.
Barbara Faulk Hargrave and Allison Claire Faulk, sisters of the bride, both served as maids of honor.
Bridal attendants were Lindsay A. Guillot (Abshire), cousin of the bride; Aubrey Deville, sister of the groom; and Erin Baker, Haley Summerlyn, Claire Hanks Gautreaux and Tara Hanks, all friends of Maggie.
The bridesmaids wore a floor length indigo blue taffeta formal with a gathered bodice and light blue pleated sashes. They also carried wildflower bouquets with white tiger lilies, light blue delphinium and versilia roses.
Friend of the groom, D.J. Akers served as best man. Groomsmen were Zachary Abshire, Seth Abshire, T. J. Guillot, all cousins of the bride and Seth Domingue, cousin of the groom. Also serving as groomsmen were Bryan Huston, Trey Bacon and Jordan Stage, all friends of the groom.
Luke Abshire, cousin of the bride, served as usher.
Flower girl, Emma Louise Hargrave is the bride’s godchild. Nephew of the bride, Christopher Hargrave and cousin of the groom, Evan Tate were the ring bearers.
Mother of the bride, the former Kayla Villejoin wore a floor length, plum taffeta formal with a pleated bodice and a coordinating bolero.
Mother of the groom, the former Rachel Tate chose a floor length black and silver formal. Her dress featured a beaded halter top accented with rhinestones.
Both ladies carried a cluster bouquet.
The reception immediately followed the ceremony at the Old Missions Church at L’eglise. Torches lined the lane leading up to the front door. Guests registered at an antique wooden chest.
The tables were draped with ivory crinkle tablecloths and the chairs were accented with indigo blue silk sashes. Each table had a centerpiece of blue hydrangea clusters and glass candle holder with a fleur-de-lis design. Crystal candle lit chandeliers were hanging throughout the reception area.
The bride’s cake area had a softly draped backdrop and a suspended candle lit floral wreath. Additionally, the bride’s table was flanked with the two attendant tables which were all draped with the ivory crinkle table cloths.
The bride’s cake was an ivory four-layered confection with decorative scrolling and the bottom of each layer had a band of blue fondant ribbon, accented with fondant bows. The middle layer displayed the couple’s momogram. It sat on a silver plateau.
The groom’s cake had a LSU theme which featured a fleur de lis tiger eye. Chocolate dipped strawberries were added around the cake.
Out of town guests traveled from Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alaska and Nebraska.
Hosted by the parents of the groom, a rehearsal dinner was held at Catahoula’s of Grand Coteau on June 2 at 7:30 p.m. The menu consisted of a choice of shrimp St. Charles with a white wine cream over pasta or grilled sirloin with potatoes du jour and vegetables. For dessert, Catahoula’s classic cheesecake was served.
After a wedding trip to Key West, Fla., Maggie and Adam plan to reside in Baton Rouge.
