Father Richard Wagner, Pastor of the Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the mass.

Curley retired from Columbia Gulf Transmission Company with 36 years of service. He was a hard worker, always busy and in search for something to do. After retirement, James was shop foreman for Young’s Trucking.

Outside of his passion and love of working, James found enjoyment and solace in serving his family and enjoying the simplicity of nature. When not working, he could be found either caring for his parents, in his kitchen or fishing. It was through his love of cooking that he often gathered at various venues to express his pride and love for preparing hearty meals while he stood back and watched others enjoy his food. He spent many hours at a time fishing, only to return to boast about his catch of the day, where he found his solitude with nature, himself and God.

Curley was known to many as “BB”, and to his family as James. He was a care taker to his father; and his mother over the years, even as his health began to fail. He also shared in caring for his mother-in-law, the late Willie Belle Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Young; his sister, Dianna Yokum; his maternal grandparents, Onezia Johnson and Johnny Johnson and his paternal grandparents, Edward Young and Ophelia Mouton Young.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Margaret Jackson Young, two children, Curley, II and Ashleigh; his mother, Selena J. Young; three siblings: Eddie (Ella Faye); Johnny (Verna) and Loretta (Harrison); his family in Crowley: Mary M. Harmon, Reginald Harmon, Betty Payne (Raymond) several nieces, nephews, two godchildren and other relatives, friends and associates.
