Iota knocks off Northwest; Lady Pios fall short at ESA

 IOTA – The Iota Lady Bulldogs improved to 22-5 on the season and 7-1 in league play with a 3-0 victory over Northwest Tuesday evening.
  The Lady Dogs limited the Lady Raiders to just 21 total points in the contest, winning the first game 25-5 and the final two by scores of  25-10, 25-6.
  Madison Meche and Taylor DeVille paced the Lady Dogs with nine and eight kills, respectively. Meche also had four digs and two aces.
  Mallory Faul was a big contributor as well with six kills, six digs, 18 assists, two aces and one block.
  Cambri St. Andre added five kills and three digs, Jillian Boone logged two kills, 21 digs and four aces, Madison Benoit had a pair of kills and a block and Erika Manuel had two kills and a dig.
Also contributing in the victory were Sydney Hebert (11 digs, 2 aces), Emily Navarre (14 digs, 1 ace) and Sarah Johnson (2 digs, 8 assists, 3 aces).
  The Lady Dogs return to district play this evening when they travel to Crowley to take on the CHS Ladies at 5 p.m.
  Crowley High (7-16, 2-5) took on Rayne Tuesday, but results of that contest were not made available by the school.
  In other volleyball action, the Notre Dame Lady Pios dropped just their third game of the season when they fell to ESA, 3-1, Tuesday in the Annual Pink Game in Cade.
  The loss dropped the Lady Pios to 21-3 on the season.
  ESA took the first game, 25-23, and put the pressure on the Lady Pios with a 25-22 victory in the second game.
  The Lady Pios responded with a 25-22 victory in the third game, but the Lady Falcons closed out the match one game later with a 25-22 victory.
  Sophomore sensation Grace Morgan led the Lady Pios with a 16-kill performance. She also had seven digs and one block.
  Lindsey Meyer followed with 12 kills, 13 digs and two aces and Sam Lyons, Anne Faulk Olivia Barbin and Laura Schmid each had two kills.
  Alex Miller set up the Lady Pio offense with 28 assists to go along with four digs and two aces while defensive specialist Alli Daigle racked up 30 digs.
  The Lady Pios will travel to New Iberia this evening to take on Catholic High in a district contest.
  In Division V tonight, Northside Christian (13-9) will open district play when the Lady Warriors travel to Opelousas to take on Westminster at 6:30 p.m.
