Jennings man held on drug charges

On the morning of July 18, 2009, Rayne police officers responded to a vehicle burglary at the Day’s Inn, located on Hwy 35 North.  While conducting an investigation into the matter, officer located a 2003 GMC truck with the driver’s window broken out.

The driver, Marty Wilridge, was contacted and upon reviewing his vehicle stated a radar detector was stolen. 

Officers smelt a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the truck.  A subsequent search of the vehicle located 6.9 pounds of marijuana, packaging material and three digital scales. 

Wilridge, 28, of 420 Snow Drive, Jennings, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses and prohibited acts.

Rayne police confiscated the marijuana, $9,475 in cash, three scales and Wilridge’s 2003 GMC pickup truck.

Wilridge is currently being held at the Rayne Police Department pending bail for the above charges.
