Bucket Boys bang out fun at Opera House

The Grand Opera House hosted a nearly full house on Sunday Jan. 19, as Dan and Vince, the Bucket Boys, presented a wonderful performance. 

The two percussionists opened the matinee by drumming on overturned mop buckets. There was much audience participation as the two encouraged the crowd to clap to the beat.

The two also played 50 gallon drums and garbage lids. On several occasions members of the audience were brought on stage. One little girl was quickly taught to be a “bucket girl.” On another occasion, a boy and a girl were brought onto the stage, and both seemed very at ease. The Bucket Boys thoroughly enjoyed bantering with the young boy, who had quite a quick wit.

In the final audience participation, four volunteers went onstage to play the bucket drums, pots and pans and garbage lids. One older gentleman obviously had experience in drum playing and caught Dan and Vince by surprise with his talent.

There were many instances for the audience to participate with hand clapping as well as air drumming. Along with their obvious drumming talents, the Bucket Boys were adept at humor and there was much comedy within the show, especially in relation to the audience and the onstage participants.

This performance was the final of the Family Series that is sponsored by Ted and Judy Carmichael and Family. Overall, the family series begins to grow in popularity with the community.
