La Recolte to play The Liberty Saturday

This Saturday, May 10, the weekly “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Music Show at the Liberty Theater will feature the up and coming Cajun band, La Recolte.

The five-member band consists of an array of talented musicians from the heart of Acadiana, including Shane Bellard, accordion/vocals; Learlin Bellard, guitar/vocals; Jourdan Thibodeaux, fiddle/vocals; Chris LaFleur, drums/percussion; Paul Borel, bass/vocals; and Joshua “Big Poppa” Bellard, drum tech.

The name of the band, which translates to “the harvest,” was influenced by the members’ desire to keep traditions alive. According to the band’s website, La Recolte is traditional and highly influenced by the South Louisiana dance hall music of the mid-1900s.

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” show is performed live every Saturday night at the historic Liberty Theater, 200 W. Park Ave. in Eunice, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Best described as the “Cajun Grand Ol’ Opry,” the family-friendly show features an emcee who hosts the show in Cajun French and a dance floor where people can dance to the music of Cajun bands performing live in the restored 1924 vaudeville house.

Tickets are $5 for general admission seating and go on sale at 4 p.m. at the ticket window of the Liberty Theater.
