2014 Flower Show Hosted by Garden Club

Guests enjoy designs, horticultural exhibits

The Rayne Garden Club hosted its 2014 Annual Flower Show, “Memories,” on Friday, April 11, at the Green Room of the Rayne Civic Center Complex.

Chairperson Hazel Prevost, Honorary Chairperson and Club President Julia Breaux, and Rayne Garden Club members welcomed guests to an evening wine and cheese social between the hours of 5-7 p.m. at the Green Room; at which time, horticultural and floral design creations were viewed. 

Winners in their categories following a “Memories” theme were awarded in floral designs of Division II, including the following Rayne Garden Club members:

“Younger Than Springtime” multi-rhythmic designs - 1st place Sepha Guidry, 2nd place Josette Habetz, 3rd place Jenny Marks, honorable mention Julia Breaux.

“As Time Goes By” reflective designs - 1st place Chris Simpson, 2nd place Lisa Soileaux, 3rd place Hazel Prevost, honorable mention Martha Pierret.

“Over The Rainbow” miniature designs - 1st place Margaret Comeaux, 2nd place Hazel Prevost, 3rd place Jeanette Daigle, honorable mention Judy Guidry.

The overall design winner in Division II of the entire flower show was Sepha Guidry, who was awarded the “Designer’s Choice” ribbon for her elegant multi-rhythmic design entry in the “Younger Than Springtime” category.

Overall horticultural winners in Division I of the entire flower show were: Award of Horticultural Excellence - Jeanette Daigle; Award of Merit - Julia Breaux (2). Awarded blue ribbons for their horticulture entries were Josette Habetz, Sepha Guidry, Lisa Soileaux, Martha Pierret, Hazel Prevost, Jeanette Daigle and Julia Breaux.

Special thanks to the City of Rayne for their assistance for this year’s flower show, in addition to the many visitors who attended the show and enjoyed the wine and cheese social.
