Acadiana Black Nurses Association provides education for youths

On Friday, June 17, members of the Acadiana Black Nurses Association were on hand at the Crowley Summer Feeding Program to teach the older youths in attendance about HIV and STD awareness and decision-making. Association members making the presentation included, seated from left, Sharonetta Brooks (parliamentarian), Lucille Woodard (historian), Gracianna Breaux (secretary), Dr. Nellie Prudhomme (president), Dee Coleman (affiliate member, holding Laila) and Shekaul Henry. The program, which is sponsored by the ASSIST Agency and the City of Crowley, is being held at Crowley Middle School and will continue through July 8. The Acadiana Black Nurses Association will return today and Friday, July 1, to make presentations on various topics including healthy dating and friendships, online safety, peer pressure, self-esteem and conflict resolution.
