Delta Sigma Theta Sorority plans for busy October

Crowley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., held its first meeting of the year on Saturday, Sept. 27, with President Yvonne Mills officiating.

A fellowship hour was held prior to the meeting, at which time the sorority members enjoyed a continental breakfast and sang a Delta Cheer to kick off the new year.

Delegates who attended the Southwest Regional Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico — Sheryl Alexander, LaTanya Evans and Yvonne Mills — gave detailed reports on plenary sessions and breakout workshops.

Various committee reports were discussed, and members were asked to remind everyone to register to vote before the deadline.

Activities for the month of October will include the annual “Get-Acquainted Hour” for the debutantes and beaux, along with their parents, which will be held at the C.F. Ladd Masonic Hall on Oct. 12.

The Project 13 Breast Cancer Awareness activity will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the C.F. Ladd Masonic Hall. The chapter has partnered with Cotessa Solomon and Elegant Events by Cotessa to host a Breast Cancer Tea.

The chapter also made its annual contribution to the March of Dimes organization.
