Members of CHS Class of 1958 gather for reunion

Members of the Crowley High School Class of 1958 met at Don’s Seafood in Lafayette on Saturday, April 9, for their 58th class reunion.
Class President Carl Brazell welcomed everyone and began the reunion by leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Carolyn Spell Habetz introduced the guest speaker for the event, Suzanne Firmin Edwards. Having been a friend of the speaker for over 60 years, Spell shared with the group what an outstanding person and friend Edwards had been to her and many others for many years.
Edwards shared with the group what she had done with her life the past 75 years. Some of the things she shared were her love for teaching and being a librarian for many years.
She also shared the various countries she was fortunate enough to visit and famous places she had been able to tour with her husband and friends. Edwards mentioned her love for her two children and five grandchildren, who make her life so meaningful and rewarding.
The classmates applauded her for her accomplishments over the years.
Betty Vallot Mitchell led the members in a moment of silence remembering classmates that had passed away since the last reunion: Marie Hargrave Miller, Geraldine Guillot Matte and Ferl David LaFosse.
Several members of the class were unable to attend because of the distance involved or because of illness. Charlotte Hamic Spell, therefore, shared messages sent by some of the persons unable to attend.
Teddy Bertrand led the group in the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the blessing of the meal.
All enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch together and a time of fellowship with classmates.
