Power of Pink Breast Cancer Walk and Health Fair set for Sat., Oct. 12

This Saturday, Oct. 12, the walking track behind Crowley Kindergarten will see a flurry of activity as The Power of Pink Concerned Citizens of Crowley Walking for a Cure recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting a community-wide Breast Cancer Walk.

The Breast Cancer Walk has grown since last year to include more and more people and information on prevention and detection.

In addition to the walk, this year’s event will include a health fair featuring:

– Hospice of Acadiana, which will be offering free blood pressure screenings;

– Home Health 2000; and

– Louisiana Healthcare Connection, which will have information regarding healthy lifestyles, early detection of breast cancer and the importance of mammograms.

The American Cancer Society will also be providing valuable information and handouts.

Free water and healthy snacks will be available.

The event will begin at 9 a.m.

Join Crowley in harnessing the “power of pink” at the track Saturday morning and learn the importance and availability of critical early breast cancer detection methods in a fun, family atmosphere.
