Three Ten hears history of space program

 

CROWLEY - The October meeting of the Three Ten Club was held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Crowley home of Patti Lawrence. Virginia Duson and Alice Whiting co-hosted the meeting.

Special guests from the Faith House were on hand to provide information to the club members regarding their services. Tricia Jones, the Faith House children’s advocate, and Katherine Monroe,  the Faith House women’s advocate, told the group about the organization’s ministry and the help it provides for battered women and children.

Continuing the club’s theme for the year, the program for the meeting, “Transportation–From the Wheel to the Moon,” was presented by Tommy McNeely. McNeely spoke about the development of the space program, emphasizing the parts played by Russian astronauts and cosmonauts. He also shared with the group his unique collection of framed, autographed photos of some of the astronauts.

Delicious refreshments and fellowship followed.

Associate members in attendance were Sarah Bercier, Barbara Geesey, Barbara Scanlan and M’Elise Trahan.
