Murella Doucet Gilbert

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Saturday, November 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. for Murella Doucet Gilbert, 83, who died Wednesday, November 25, 2009, in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.

Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne.

Surviving are three sons, Dana Gilbert and wife, Marie Stelly, of Rayne, David Chad Gilbert and wife, Margaret LaCroix, of Rayne, William “Bill” Gilbert and wife, Mary Hennings, of Springtown, Texas; two daughters, Debra Hoffpauir and husband, Ignatius, of Rayne, Mary Murphy and husband, Robert, of Rayne; nine grandchildren, Dodie H. Morrison, Denise G. Kartsimas, Danny J. Gilbert, David C. Hoffpauir, Emily H. Jennings, Ellen M. Benoit, Megan L. Murphy, Casey L. Gilbert, and Cassie P. Gilbert; nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard Doucet of Rayne, and Don LeBlanc of Rayne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Lee Gilbert; parents, Claude Doucet and Della LeBlanc Doucet; and one sister, Dorothy Dot Foreman.

She was born Saturday, August 14, 1926, in Boscoe, to the late Claude Doucet and the late Della LeBlanc Doucet.

A rosary was recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday.

Friends were received Friday, November 27, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 28, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. until service at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne.
