Rayne High's Arnaud picked for All-State Band

RAYNE - Rayne High School sophomore Nick Arnaud has achieved the position of Top Band - second chair in the 2014-2015 All-State Band competition.

Arnaud will perform with the top band students in the state at a concert to be held in Baton Rouge in November.

Each year students in their respective districts compete in a first-round auditon for a coveted position in the All-State Band. Arnaud auditioned last year as a freshman and achieved the position of alternate in the first round.

This year he auditioned in the first round and achieved the first chair position, allowing him to move to the sound round of auditions.

The second round auditions take the top two students for each instrument from each of the nine districts in Louisiana and they audition for limited spots in the three All-State Bands.

Arnaud has been the only student to represent Acadia Parish in the all-state auditions in the past two years.

“I want to thank Mr. (Adrian) Alba (RHS band director) and a handful of other people for helping make this happen,” Arnaud said. “It goes to show where hard work and dedication can get you. I’m extremely proud to be representing Rayne High.”

Arnaud is the son of Ricci Arnaud of Crowley and the grandson of Jo-Anne Arnaud of Crowley and the late Richard Arnaud.
