Wanted: Darius Thomas

1 dies in early morning shooting

Crowley Police are investigating a homicide which occurred this morning shortly after 2 a.m.
The incident occurred on Jacobs Avenue near West Seventh Street.
According to the investigation, the victim – identified as Daniel Tezeno Jr., 24, of Crowley – and the suspect – identified as Darius V. Thomas, 24, of Crowley – were riding in a vehicle driven by Tezeno.
“Our investigation at this point indicates that a struggle between Tezeno and Thomas occurred in the vehicle while it was moving. During this struggle, our investigation leads us to believe that Thomas shot Tezeno as he was attempting to flee the vehicle. We believe the motive behind this crime is robbery,” stated Chief KP Gibson.
Officers located the victim and began providing first aid until the victim was transported to Acadia General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, 6 feet 1 inch in height, weighing 125 pounds, with a thin build, medium length black hair and clean shaven.
The last known address for Thomas is 100 Kathy-Meadows Apartments, Apartment No. 21.
An arrest warrant has been secured for Thomas’ arrest for first-degree murder.
Thomas should be considered armed and dangerous.
