A disturbance call at a local hotel on the Interstate 10 Frontage Road, has led to two Rayne men being arrested and the removal of four weapons from the streets of Crowley and Rayne.

The incident occurred on July 30 around 4 p.m. in the afternoon.

“Our officers received a call in reference to a disturbance where two subjects were in the parking lot of a local hotel with firearms. As officers arrived in the area, they located the vehicle described as being involved in the incident leaving the area,” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.

Upon locating the suspect vehicle fleeing the area, one officer maintained visual contact on the vehicle as another officer confirmed the information.

“When the officers stopped the suspect vehicle, they recovered four firearms, one which was reported stolen from another parish,” Gibson.

However the disturbance was actually an attempted robbery by the suspects. The caller was able to enter his hotel room and secure himself inside as he called police, stated Chief Gibson.

Arrested were Trent Duhon, 18, of Rayne and Trevor Duhon, 17, of Rayne. Trevor Duhon was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail for attempted armed robbery, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and illegal possession of firearms. Trent Duhon was booked for principal to armed robbery and possession of stolen property.

“The officers did a good job by locating the vehicle and confirming that the vehicle matched the suspect vehicle before stopping them. By using good teamwork, the officers were able to make the arrest without putting themselves or our citizens in great danger,” stated Gibson.
