2 separate Sunday shootings under investigation

Information provided by the Crowley Police Department via press release.

The Crowley Police Department is investigating two separate shooting incidents which occurred over night Sunday and into Monday morning.

“These incidents are believed to be tied into a dispute with two rival gangs,” according to Chief of Police KP Gibson’s release Monday.

“Our personnel continue to work to identify suspects in these cases as well as other recent cases. It becomes extremely difficult when victims, witnesses and people with knowledge of these events choose not to cooperate with an investigation. We understand their concerns but do need their help.

“We have placed additional man power on the streets working to resolve these criminal matters.”

The first incident occurred shortly before midnight in the 500 block of East 15th Street. The initial investigation discovered that three black male subjects entered a residence by force. The suspects began shooting at a male inside the residence and fled.

An adult male victim and a juvenile victim were treated for not life-threatening injuries. Both victims were treated at a local hospital and released.

The second incident occurred at approximately 1:28 a.m. in the 1200 block of West Fourth Street. The victim in this case was exiting his residence when an unknown suspect fired shots at the victim, striking his vehicle.

The victim in this incident was not struck.

Crowley Police are not sure if the cases are related at this time, but believe that they possibly are.

Investigators are following up on all leads at this time.
