Four more individuals have been arrested and charged with bringing contraband into a penal institution following the arrests of a part time correctional officer on Jan. 21.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, narcotic agents issued warrant of arrests for three inmates – Kenny Leger of Church Point, Dwayne Domingue of Rayne and Joseph Harrison of Church Point. All three are presently serving time for previous charges in the Acadia Parish Detention Center.
Also arrested was Nadashia Toreka Julian, 26, of the 600 block of West South First Street in Rayne.
Through the investigation, agents learned that Julian would meet with Lester Landry, the part time correctional officer, at a pre-arranged location away from the detention center. Upon receiving the packages containing contraband and payment of cash, Landry would make delivery to Domingue, Harrison and Leger in jail.
Julian was arrested without incident and District Judge Kristian Earles set her bond at $25,000.
More arrests are expected.
