Wednesday morning, at approximately 5 a.m., members of the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Task Force and Patrol Division executed a search warrant in the 200 block of Josie Street in Crowley and arrested one.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon deputies advised that upon entering the residence with a no knock warrant they were met with resistance by the homeowner identified as Clyde Broussard, 41, aka “Big Cat.”

Once inside the residence a brief struggle occurred between Broussard and law enforcement. Broussard was quickly brought under control and placed in restraints with an officer monitoring him for officer safety.

Melancon also stated that while searching the residence agents located a large amount of illegal narcotics and currency at which time Broussard once again attempted to flea the home while in restraints. Broussard was then placed under arrest and secured in a patrol unit for safety reasons.

Officers also located a 6-year-old juvenile sleeping in one of the rooms. The juvenile was released into the custody of family members. Broussard was transported to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was placed in the parish jail charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute schedule I, four counts of possession with the intent to distribute schedule II, possession of hydrocodone, possession with the intent to distribute schedule IV, money laundering, possession of legend drug without a prescription, illegal use of a controlled drug, resisting an officer and possession with the intent to distribute schedule V. The street value was estimated at $25,000.

District Judge John Trahan set bond at $147,500.

Melancon said that this arrest was the results of several months of undercover investigations and that Broussard is considered a major drug supplier in the Crowley and Acadia Parish area.
