Shooting claims 2 lives

Information provided by the Crowley Police Department

Crowley Police are investigating a shooting incident which has claimed the lives of two Crowley men.
The incident occurred shortly before midnight, April 3, in the 300 block of West 2nd Street.
“Thus far, we believe that an individual approached the vehicle which was parked in a parking lot and was occupied by the victims," stated Chief of Police KP Gibson. "The suspect then began shooting into the vehicle striking the victims. The suspect is believed to have fled on foot in an easterly direction towards Avenue E.
"One victim died on scene and a second victim died at a local hospital."
As far the reason behind the shooting, Gibson cautions it's too early to know for sure, but evidence has suggested one.
“It is early to determine a motive, but we do believe that it is narcotics related due to evidence at the scene."
Gibson and the police department are scouring for leads into this double homicide and are asking for the public's assistance.
“We believe that someone may have witnessed the incident or seen the suspect approaching the vehicle. We need anyone with information about the shooting or knowledge of problems these victims may have had with anyone to call Crowley Police at 783-1234 or Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish at 789-TIPS (8477)."
The victims names will not be released at this time, according to Gibson, and updates will follow as the investigation allows.
