UPDATE: More information in police pursuit released by JPD

CROWLEY - Officials have released the identities of the two Jennings men who were arrested after a high-speed chase through downtown Crowley Tuesday afternoon.

Anthony Lyons and Calvin Beroid were apprehended at the intersection of West Third Street and Western Avenue in Crowley following a pursuit that began in Jennings.

Jennings Police say the chase started at Fred & Ruth Zigler Memorial Drive at about 2:30 p.m. when police attempted to make a traffic stop.

The two fled the scene and the pursuit led to Interstate 10 eastbound at speeds exceeding 115 mph, according to officials.

While on I-10, the suspects allegedly threw narcotics out of the windows of the vehicle, according to police. Officials also were scouring the roadsides in Crowley following the incident.

The duo exited the interstate at exit 80 (North Parkerson Avenue/Louisiana Highway 13) and sped south, rounding the courthouse and turning right onto Third Street.

The chase ended at Western Avenue when more than a dozen law enforcement officials converged on the scene.

During the course of the chase, the suspects allegedly rammed a Jennings police car. Officials also reportedly shot out the rear glass of the suspects’ automobile.

Lyons and Beroid face charges in both Jefferson Davis and Acadia Parish.

Among the charges levied against Beroid, who was driving, are aggravated flight, aggravated battery of a police officer and driving with a suspended license.

Lyons was charged with obstruction of justice, among others.

Law enforcement agencies participating int he chase included the Jennings Police Department, Crowley Police Department, Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police.
