Rayne Man Charged With Stabbing Nephew

A Rayne man was jailed after he allegedly stabbed his nephew during an altercation outside a convenience store here Wednesday (June 8) night.
According to a statement released by Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly, Wilfred Grant, 56, and his nephew were arguing outside Venable’s Grocery at the corner of Reynolds and West Jeff Davis streets.
Police say during the fight, Grant pulled out a knife and stabbed his nephew three times.
The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Grant was charged with attempted second-degree murder and has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
