Lyness Guidry

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Lyness Guidry, 94, who died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Lafayette General Hospital.

Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will celebrate the Mass.

Visitation began Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continues Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

 The Rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Lyness was born Aug. 21, 1920, to the late Alton and Azalie Richard Guidry. He was a retired fireman with the Crowley Fire Department. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. 

He is survived by two daughters, Regina Dupuis and Gerri Richard, both of Egan; two sons, Johnnie Guidry of Gueydan and Alvin Guidry of Cedar Hill, Texas; two sisters, Irene Broussard of Lake Charles and Hilda Perrin of Kaplan; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hilda Hebert Guidry; and a son, Joseph Keith Guidry.
