Marlin Ray Beard

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marlin Ray Beard, 69, at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota with Rev. Jude Thierry as celebrant.
The family has requested that visitation be held at Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley, and will begin on Sunday, March 27, at 2 p.m., with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m., until 10 p.m. and will resume on Monday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the service time. Interment will follow the church service and will be in St. Jules Catholic Cemetery in Petit Mamou, Prairie Laurent.
Mr. Beard passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at his home in Egan.
Marlin was a longtime resident of Egan; proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was employed as a truck driver and also self employed prior to his retirement. He enjoyed collecting coins; race cars; working in his yard, putting up thousands of Christmas lights during the holidays and spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Jennifer W. Beard of Egan; children, Jennifer Lynn Beard of Iota, Donna Stevens and husband Walter of Iota; step-daughter, Misti Pousson of Metaire; step-son, Ryan Pousson and wife Carmen of Iota; grandchildren, Brittany Beard and spouse Vanna of Eunice, Gwendolyn LeJeune and spouse Dustin, Louis-Ray “Matthew” Thibodeaux, Hailey Godeaux, all of Iota and Stefan Godeaux of Lake Arthur; two step-grandchildren, Adam Pousson and Bethany Pousson of Iota; great-grandchildren, Domineke Price and Danielle Price of Lake Arthur, McKenize Ray Miller of Iota and Caynn Godeaux and Evey Godeaux of Lake Arthur; sisters, Brenda Frisard and husband Martin of Gramercy, Barbara Gaidry of Houma, Patricia Jochum and spouse Alvin of Crowley; brothers, Robert Beard of Vinton, Kenneth Beard and wife Sonya of Jennings, Allen Dale Beard and wife Cathy of Iota; and godmother, Eula Mae Ortego of Evangeline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curley Beard and Laurice Eva Miller Beard; mother-in-law, Jeanette Winters; father-in-law, Phillip Winters; and his godfather, Hubert Beard.
Pallbearers will be Louis Ray Thibodeaux, Cully Frisard, Marty Frisard, Walter Stevens, Billy Caswell and Hubert Leger.
