Richard Wayne Dupont

Funeral services for Richard Wayne Dupont, 58, of Tepatate/Basile, will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. with full military rites at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings with Father Charles McMillin officiating.

Burial will be in Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville. The Dupont family request visitation to be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 8 a.m. until his services at 11 a.m.

Richard passed away on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at the Southwest War Veterans Home in Jennings. He was born in Jennings on March 25, 1956, to the late Calvin Dupont and the late Elda LeJeune Dupont. Richard liked cooking, playing cards with friends and playing bingo. He liked to read in his spare time. Richard loved sports of all kinds, but especially loved shooting pool. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is survived by his step-mother, Gertrude Dupont; one daughter, Sheila Dupont of Elton; two brothers, Mark Dupont of Crowley and Malcolm “Moose” Dupont of Jennings; one half-brother, Calvin “Bitsy” Dupont Jr. of Midland; one sister, Cheryl Fontenot of Jennings; one half-sister, Tasha Dupont Patin of Goldonna; and two beautiful granddaughters, Elizabeth Miller and Samantha Dupont.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Dupont and Elda LeJeune Dupont; his grandparents, Ralph and Edna K. LeJeune and Leo Paul Dupont and Elia L. Dupont Beard; one uncle, Dale LeJeune; two sisters-in-law, Faye Dupont and Penny Dupont; and a brother-in-law, Jerry J. Fontenot Sr.
