Lady Wolves extend district lead with wins

The Lady Wolves remained on top of District 3 of Division III with two district wins last week over Eunice and North Vermilion.
In the win over Eunice (25-9, 25-8, 25-9) the Lady Wolves recorded 19 kills on the day led by Charlesha Dugas with 7, along with 2 blocks.
Completing the Rayne spiking stats were Tarya Kanonu with 6 kills in addition to 2 blocks and 4 aces.Charlyne Peltier recorded 3, Katie Benoit had a couple and Layni Boudreaux added one.
Boudreaux also led assists on the day with 10 for the Lady Wolves.
In their win over North Vermilion (25-23, 25-19, 25-15) the Lady Wolves High offense was clicking as Rayne recorded 38 kills for the win.
Taryn Kanonu led Rayne kills with 11, along with 2 blocks and aces. Teammates Katie Benoit and Charlyne Peltier each recorded 8 kills apiece. Charlesha Dugas had half a dozen while Layni Boudreaux and Blair Bergeron each had a trio.
Boudreaux led with 20 assists on offense, followed by Peltier who collected 15.
During a weekend tournament at Lutcher High, the Lady Wolves went 3-0 before dropping a close contest in the final contest of the day.
Rayne defeated Dutchtown, Cecilia and Destrahan, before meeting Dutchtown in the finals where they dropped a close match.
The Lady Wolves are slated to meet Sam Houston on Monday at home, and then honor senior team members on Tuesday during “Senior Night” as they will host Northwest High.
PINK GAME
The Lady Wolves will join forces with The Academy of Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau once again during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Oct. 28th when Rayne will host the “Volleyball For A Cure Pink Game.”
The team is seelling “Block Out Cancer” t-shirts and are also accepting $50 and $100 donations for sponsorship. All proceeds will benefit the Miles Perret Center.
