RHS Wolves, Ladies collect wins

The Wolves and Lady Wolves have begun their 2015-2016 basketball season with a bang, each collecting a number of wins in favorable fashion.
The Lady Wolves claimed two wins in three games of the weekend’s Acadiana High Invitational for a productive tournament.
What began with a 27-25 loss to St. Thomas More in the first game on Wednesday, the Lady Wolves bounced back with a 64-59 win over Scottlandville on Thursday and a pulled out a 55-52 win over Slidell on Saturday for a positive tournament.
In their final win, forward Charlesha Dugas led all scorers with 34 points, followed by Whitley Larry who dumped in 14 points and four blocks. Tiesha Young added 7 points.
During the St. Thomas More Tournament, the Lady Wolves collected three dominating wins, 74-60 over Fairview, 52-21 over Dutchtown, and 62-32 over South Beauregard.
In their win over Fairview, Tasia Duhon, Whitley Larry, Amari Collins and Charlesha Dugas led Rayne scores. During their win over Dutchtown, Whitley Larry, Tajane Butler and Amari Collins all hit double digits. Tasia Duhon, Keysuana Moore and Charlesha Dugas led Rayne scores in Saturday’s win over South Beauregard.
The Lady Wolves are slated to travel to Lafayette Friday to meet Acadiana High, followed by the Midland Holiday Tournament Dec. 16-19 at Midland High School.
The Wolves claimed top honors during the Elton Tournament held over the weekend.
Rayne claimed a 35-33 win over East Beauregard in the opening game of the tournament. They were led on the scoreboard by Dontray Leopaul with 14 points, followed by Braylin Bonnom with 10.
In their second game the tournament, the Wolves claimed a 61-29 win over Church Point. Rayne was led by Dontray Leopaul with 20 points, along with 10 points by Jayson Thomas.
In earlier action, the Wolves claimed a 69-42 win over Church Point during a non-district game played at home.
Darian Harmon led Rayne scores with a dozen, followed by Dontray Leopaul and Coren Linton each with 9 points. Dwayne Smith followed closely with 8 points.
The Wolves are slated to hit the road Friday when they meet Abbeville, and on Tuesday, Dec. 15 when they travel to St. Martinville, followed by the LCA Tournament beginning Dec. 16th.
