Wolves to meet ‘Dogs in tonight’s Parish Jamboree

Following last week’s historic flooding that halted all extra curricular activities while southern Louisiana tried to survive the worst flooding witnessed in almost 100 years, the 2016 football season is kiciking off today for the Wolves when they travel to Iota to participate in the Acadia Parish Football Jamboree. The Wolves will take on the hostng Bulldogs during the 8 p.m. contest. The 6 p.m. game will see Crowley High meet Church Point.
“We missed out on our scrimmage last week with the flooding,” stated Rayne High Head Coach Curt Ware.
“We’ve been practicing, but it’s time to meet true competition in the jamboree,” Ware continued.
The Wolves will begin its official season next Friday when they travel to Church Point.
Lady Wolves
Head Volleyball Coach Stephanie Garrett and her Lady Wolves began their 2016 volleyball season on Wednesday, Aug. 24, when they attended the Teurlings High Jamboree in Lafayette.
Season games will begin Tuesday, Aug. 30, when they host Acadiana High. The Lady Wolves will hit the road on Thursday, Sept. 1, when they visit Sam Houston.
“We lost many players to graduation and are in the middle of rebuilding this year,” stated Garrett of the coming season. “But, we have some young, hard workers who are improving with practice. We will see what season play will bring and what leaders will step forward.”
