Queb's Picks: Rivalry highlights action packed weekend of football

Another big week of football kicks off this week and what better way to get it started than a good, old Acadia Parish rivalry game.
The Crowley Gents and the Rayne Wolves will once again get together on the gridiron after a two-year hiatus and from the look of things, the renewal of the storied rivalry should be one to remember.
Both teams are coming off losses and each is eager to get back on the winning track. Add in the fact that these two schools are rivals and that makes for a must-watch game.
With both squads being pretty evenly matched, it’s hard to predict a winner. The Wolves have an advantage in the kicking game while the Gents have an edge through the air. Both teams sport  well-rounded defenses.
This one could turn out to be a shootout or it could a 3-0 outcome.
I’m torn on this one, but I always pull for my alma mater so I’m taking the Gents in come-from-behind fashion late in the game.
Now before we move any further, let’s touch on last week’s pick ‘em contest.
What a fiasco. With four SEC powers coming up short and a few other upsets, last week’s contest ended up being the worst in years for our prognosticators.
The majority of the contestants ended up with eight or more losses, but four were in contention with just six misses.
Coby Wallace took top honors by virtue of the tiebreaker and Elton Bourque placed second. I finished at 10-10, my worst record yet.
Hopefully we all have a better record this go-around.
Now, on to this week’s picks.
