St. Michael High School’s graduating class of 1958 gather for 50th reunion

The 1958 graduating class of St. Michael High School gathered on the evening of Saturday, May 10, to celebrated their 50th reunion.

Those who were able, attended the 4:30 p.m. mass at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Gary Schexnayder presiding.

During mass everyone took time to remember the four deceased members of the class, Joseph “Tater” Signorelli, Donald “Don” Habetz, Wayne Trahan and Thomas “Tommy” Ohlenforst.

Musical selections for mass were played by Alberta Lyons, organist; and the class alma mater, “Here as the evening falls” was played by a class member with L.J. Dailey leading the congregation in the song.

The remainder of the evening was spent at Kelly’s Landing located north of Crowley.

A lot of reminiscing and enjoyable conversations were shared by all. A large blue and gold banner greeted everyone depicting the words “Welcome St. Michael Crusaders, Class of ‘58”.

Boiled crawfish, crawfish étoufée, jambalaya, beans and salad was enjoyed by all. A beautiful decorated cake made by Vanessa of Daisey Cakes was served for dessert.

Besides the 1958 graduates, their spouses and guest, special guest included former coaches and faculty members including Coach Gerald and Mrs. Norma Dill, and Coach and Mrs. Larry Gros.

Also in attendance were Betty V. Mitchell, Shelby Arnaud and Pat. S. Broussard.

Guest traveled from Colorado, Amelia Island, Florida; Houston, and various parts of Louisiana.
