Breaux Bridge police chief announces candidacy for reelection

BREAUX BRIDGE – Longtime Chief of Police Charlie Thibodeaux is announcing his candidacy for another term as the city’s top law enforcement officer.

Municipal elections will be held here in 2010.

“I first joined the Breaux Bridge Police Department in 1973,” Thibodeaux said. “Since then I have attended the police academy in Baton Rouge and numerous other law enforcement courses of instruction. I have served as your chief of police under three mayors and I have grown the department from a 12-man force to its present size of 21 personnel. During this time, I added a detective division, a narcotics officer and a drug enforcement division.”

Thibodeaux has served as chief for the past 13 years. He was unopposed in the last election in September, 2006.

“The police department is undergoing a major reorganization that will benefit the citizens of Breaux Bridge by making it one of the best law enforcement organizations in any city of similar size in Louisiana,” Thibodeaux said.

“I want to continue to serve you as your chief of police.”

Thibodeaux is married to the former Emmaline Hebert. Both are Breaux Bridge natives.
