Church Point Wholesale growing

CHURCH POINT – Church Point Wholesale (CPW) announces the acquisition of CONCO Food Distributors’ Convenience Store Wholesale Division. CONCO Food Distributors is a division of Consolidated Companies Inc.

While boosting its presence in Louisiana and Mississippi, Church Point Wholesale (CPW), with this acquisition, is adding Alabama and Florida to its four-state distribution service area.

“At a time when many companies are cutting back, Church Point Wholesale is growing,” said Jack Casanova, president of Church Point Wholesale. “This acquisition adds hundreds of new chain and independent customers, including locations in Alabama and the panhandle of Florida, expanding CPW’s already extensive reach and opening new markets to our customer-focused service.”

“CONCO Food Distributors Convenience Store Division is a natural fit for Church Point Wholesale. Both parent companies started in the early 1900s as family-run businesses focused on providing superior customer service. This purchase strengthens our position as an industry leader and advances Church Point Wholesale’s goal of expanding into new geographic areas,” said Casanova.

Church Point Wholesale is located in Acadia Parish and is one of the largest full-line wholesale distributors to supermarkets, superettes, convenience stores and deli food operations in the southeast part of the United States. “The acquisition of this business adds a major operating unit of one of Louisiana’s oldest grocery and tobacco wholesalers into our company, ensuring that jobs that may have gone to another state will remain right here in Louisiana,” said Casanova. “We look forward to the additional expertise that the CONCO personnel will bring to the Church Point Wholesale team.”

Church Point Wholesale is a division of Acadia Wholesale and Tobacco Company Inc., which also operates Pelican Cigar & Tobacco of Lake Charles and Lafayette Drugs/Abe’s Sales and Service Company of Lafayette, a general merchandise distributor.

Founded in 1901, Consolidated Companies Inc. is the parent company of CONCO Food Service and CONCO Food Distributors. The Food Service divisions specializes in the distribution of quality food and food-related products to businesses that prepare and serve food. CONCO Food Service operates from three facilities located in Harahan, Lafayette and Shreveport, Louisiana, and services six states and over 4,000 customers.
