The Fugitive Poets, Red Saltzman & the Ramblin’ Cajuns on stage this Saturday night at the Liberty
This Saturday, Jan. 18, the weekly “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Music Show at the Liberty Theater will feature The Fugitive Poets and Red Saltzman & the Ramblin’ Cajuns.
The Fugitive Poets is a Baton Rouge-based band that plays mostly original songs and has what has been described as an “Americana” sound, mixing folk, rock, blues, swing and bluegrass. The band first performed at the Liberty Theater on Sept. 17, 2011, and returned on April 14, 2012.
Although it is not the usual fare for the Liberty, the audience responded well to music that offers the pleasure, honesty, depth of feeling and power also found in Cajun music.
The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” show is performed live every Saturday night at the historic Liberty Theater, 200 W. Park Ave. in Eunice, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Best described as the “Cajun Grand Ol’ Opry,” the family-friendly show features an emcee who hosts the show in Cajun French and a dance floor where people can dance to the music of Cajun bands performing live in the restored 1924 vaudeville house.
Tickets are $5 for general admission seating and go on sale at 4 p.m. at the ticket window of the Liberty Theater.
