National Association of University Women, Crowley Branch, presents Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Musical

 

This year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Youth Musical, presented annually by the National Association of University Women (NAUW), Crowley Branch, once again saw a packed house at the Greater Love Baptist Church in Crowley.

This year’s theme was “Citizenship and Service in Action.”

Destiny Jones served as mistress of ceremony for the musical, which was held on the afternoon of Sunday, Jan. 19. 

A prayer was offered by Pastor John W. Milton, Esq., of Imani Temple #49, and selected scriptures were read by Lemuel Jones. 

Musical selections were performed by the Greater Love Family Worship Center (Bishop Louis Dugar, pastor), Jerusalem Baptist Church (Sherard Joseph, pastor), Agape New Vision Ministries (Bishop Joseph Damon, pastor), Israelite Baptist Church (Ivan Lewis, pastor) and the Imani Temple #49 Praise Team.

A praise dance was performed by Princess Dugar, and a second dance selection was performed by Ministry in Motion Everywhere.

President Cynthia Winbush and Dr. Ezora Proctor provided final reflections.

In addition to Winbush and Proctor, members of the NAUW, Crowley Branch, are Myrtle Cain, Meridian Vallery, Betty Morris-Gums, Evelyn Pleasure, Grace Brown, Pamela Thorns, Sandra Simmons, Martha Williams, Latonya Evans, Cheryl Shelvin-Lewis, Hilda Jones, Melissa Espree and Michelle Calloway.
