Rosanne Cash to debut new album in Lafayette

Rosanne Cash will debut her new album, “The River and the Thread,” in two back-to-back performances in Lafayette.

“The River and the Thread” is an exploration of Cash’s Southern roots. Her extraordinary songwriting is enveloped with deep, heartfelt lyrics accompanied by a raw Southern sound. From memories of her father’s Arkansas home to her reflections on her Southern upbringing, Cash’s lyrics capture audiences and draw them into her view of the poetic survey of places and people of the South.

On Saturday, March 8, Cash will play the Acadiana Center for the Arts’ intimate James Moncus Theater with her husband and collaborator, John Leventhal. This All-Star Series performance will be a stripped-down, personal experience where Cash will speak with her audience, allowing an intimate encounter with a truly incredible woman and artist. It will be a unique opportunity to hear Cash talk about her work and process along with her amazing voice and unique style.

On Sunday, March 9, Cash will be at the Heymann Performing Arts Center with a quintet and multi-media performance for a PASA-series special event. Here, Cash will be in full-force, presenting her new album in a concert unlike any other. Experience Cash as she connects the dots of her own story of the rich history of a region into a cohesive work. This concert will feature a talented video artist accompanying the band. The Boston Globe is calling this album Cash’s “finest work in a 35-year career, assured and at ease, and one of 2014’s first great albums.”

Rosanne Cash’s legendary family history and deep Southern roots make this a performance you’ll remember for a lifetime. Pride in our cultural heritage and uniqueness is transformed into lyrical and musical form by an artist with worldwide recognition.
